Several factors have contributed to the 2018 driver shortage, including the ELD mandate on April 1, high turnover rates and increased global shipments. Because of these and other factors, domestic truckload capacity is at an all-time low. See more here.

New Survey Data Reveals Increases in Driver Compensation

The American Trucking Association (ATA) released data from its latest Driver Compensation study. Driver pay has increased 15% between 2013-2017 due to increased freight demand and decreased driver capacity. See more here.

ONE – Integration Of K-Line, MOL & NYK Commences Shipping Services

Ocean Network Express (referred to as "ONE") officially merged its container shipping businesses on April 1, 2018. ONE is the result of an integration of the container operations of three Japanese shipping carriers“K” Line, MOL, and NYK. See more here.

Asia Pacific Carriers Continue To See Air Cargo Demand Surge

Asian air cargo carriers continued to build upon a strong start to the year in February. February traffic figures released by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) reveal that air cargo increased by 7.3% year-over-year in February 2018. See more here.

Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) Breaks Ground On $126 Million Mason Mega Rail Terminal

A new project at the Port of Savannah is projected to increase its rail capacity to one million containers per year. GPA is hopeful that it will be able to begin operations at the new terminal by the fall 2019. See more here.

Walmart Brings Project Gigaton To China

Walmart announced that it plans to cut 50 million metric tons of green house gas emissions from its supply chain in China by 2030. The goal will help build on Walmart's goal of contributing to a more environmentally friendly global supply chain. See more here.

Starbucks Is Brewing Up Blockchain For 'Bean To Cup' Tracking

Starbucks is creating a pilot program to trace coffee beans from Costa Rica, Colombia and Rwanda using "track and trace" technology within its supply chain. The goal is to create accountability as part of a greater ethos-based supply chain. See more here.
