Road Closures In North Carolina Could Lead To Significant Shipping Delays

In North Carolina, significant flooding has caused the North Carolina Department of Transportation to close sections of I-95 and I-40. All roads leading to Wilmington, NC remain closed, which could cause significant delays along these crucial stretches of highway. See more here.

USTR Finalizes Tariffs On $200 Billion Of Chinese Imports

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released a list of approximately $200 billion worth of Chinese imports that will be subject to additional tariffs. These additional tariffs will go into effect on September 24, 2018 and will initially be subject to a 10 percent tariff. See more here.

Ports Of Wilmington And Morehead City Remain Closed

In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, the Ports of Wilmington and Morehead City could remain closed through Wednesday. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety reported approximately 484,000 power outages throughout the state (as of September 17, 2018 at 10am local time). See more here.

Hong Kong Port Closed As Southern China Battles Super Typhoon Mangkhut

Port operations at the Port of Hong Kong were suspended on September 15 ahead of the landfall of Super Typhoon Mangkhut. As a result, global shipments along Transpacific Eastbound shipping lanes could see significant delays in the coming weeks. See more here.

Walmart And Sam's Club Announce Customer Campaign To Assist With 2018 U.S. Hurricane Relief

Walmart and Sam's Club have announced intentions to launch a customer campaign to bring disaster relief to communities in North Carolina and South Carolina. Walmart will utilize its extensive supply chain network to provide cities and towns with donations, support centers for local families and meal service to affected communities. See more here.

Walmart To Acquire Cornershop In Mexico And Chile

Walmart recently announced the acquisition of Cornershop, Inc. in an effort to improve their on-demand grocery delivery service.
