Uber Self-Driving Trucks Make Arizona Deliveries

Uber announced that it has been utilizing self-driving trucks and making deliveries in Arizona since November. Uber Freight launched an app in 2017 that matches shipper with loads, similar to Uber's ride-hailing app. See more here.

Tariffs & Quotas Proposed on Imported Steel & Aluminum Products

Potential Tariff Increases for Steel and Aluminum Imports

The White House announced that it is moving closer to imposing additional tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum, as early as this week. Current proposals include a 25 percent tariff on steel and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum. Read here for the detail provided from the Dept of Commerce.

South Carolina Ports Prep for Larger Vessels

South Carolina Ports Authority gained 1.8 percent in container volume growth during the first half of its 2018 FY. In addition to deepening the harbor, the Port announced the arrival of two new cranes to join existing Neopanamax-capable cranes. Click here to read more.

U.S. Oil Exports Expected to Double by 2023

The IEA predicts that the U.S. will become the largest oil producer by 2023, putting pressure to expand exporting capacity, including port terminals and shipping. Wall Street Journal reports in depth here.

Walmart continues to jockey with Amazon by expanding pre-portioned meal kits from 250 current locations to over 2000 stores in 2018. Investor's Business Daily reports here.
