The renewal legislature was recently passed by the House of Representatives and is now pending Senate approval. Global Counterfeit Goods Estimated at 4.3M TEUs

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) reports that the estimated volume of counterfeit and pirated products shipped around the world is 4.3 million TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units). By 2022, the negative impact of these counterfeit goods is expected to cost the global economy $4.2 trillion. Click here to read more.

Carrier Reliability Decreases

A recent report by SeaIntel Maritime Analysis found that on-time reliability was the lowest on the Asia to North America East Coast route and the trans-Atlantic routes. Westbound trans-Atlantic fell to 67.4 percent on-time while eastbound trans-Atlantic decreased to 70.2 percent on-time. The biggest decline in reliability was on the Asia to North America East Coast route which fell to 66.3 percent on-time.

January Retail Sales Signal Strong Start to 2018

According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), retail sales remained strong during the first month of 2018. January sales increased 5.4 percent compared year-over-year. Online and other non-store sales jumped 13.2 percent year-over-year. Click here to access the full report.

The year-over-year increase in value of freight shipped between the United States, Canada and Mexico, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
