Freight Market Cools Slightly During July But Remains Above 2017 Volumes

According to DAT's monthly Freight Index, truckload freight volumes during the month of July fell 29 percent compared to the previous month, however, volumes were still 3.4 percent higher compared to July 2017. Click here to read more.

Tariff Update

In the past week, there have been a number of additional updates to the current list of proposed tariffs. Recently, the Administration released updates to Steel and Aluminum Tariffs, Section 301 Tariffs and other trade-related information. See more here.

Space Issues Persist For Transpacific Eastbound Cargo

Over the last several weeks, space has continued to tighten on the Transpacific trade lane. Importers with cargo moving from Asian (primarily Chinese) points of origin to West Coast, East Coast and Gulf Coast ports of entry continue to be impacted. To minimize delays, importers are encouraged to place bookings at least three weeks in advance. Click here to read more.

EPA Could Begin Studying Financial Effects Of Maritime Emission Rules

Beginning January 1, 2020, vessels entering U.S. ports could shift from using traditional diesel fuel to ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel. Experts predict that this could have an impact on global diesel fuel prices for truckload freight. See more here.

Walmart Claims Number One Spot On List Of Top American Retailers

Walmart earned the number one spot on Stores magazines' annual top 100 retailers list, with sales over three times higher than the runner up. Walmart's retail sales reached $374.80 billion in 2017. Kroger claimed second place achieving sales of $115.89 billion. Read more here.

Rising Expectations For Growing E-Commerce

A study of online shoppers from the U.S., U.K. and Canada shows many shoppers are not completely satisfied with their online orders. Some common frustrations include the time it takes to receive orders, shipping costs and order errors. Increasing delivery expectations continue to impact the supply chain of retailers around the globe. See more here.

The number of TEUs imported during the first half of 2018, which is an increase of 5.1 percent over the first half of 2017, according to the National Retail Federation.
