Hurricane Bud Could Have Potential Impacts On U.S. Shipments

Please note that Hurricane Bud could cause shipping delays along the western coast of Mexico. As a result, the storm could potentially create bottleneck effects on the movement of goods between ports, manufacturers, distribution centers and retailers in Mexico and across the Southwestern United States. Produce Haulers Increasing Rates Prior To Roadcheck

Because of the demands placed on truck drivers the week of Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck, trucking rates have risen as much as $1,000 in some North American lanes. The USDA indicated that 67 percent of the U.S. didn’t have adequate truck availability in the week before the Roadcheck. See more here.

Container Rates Face Steep Climb In Recouping Bunker Fuel Surcharges

Carrier surcharges have risen in recent weeks, with the introduction of “emergency” bunker surcharges in response to rising fuel costs by most of the ocean lines. Chinese Truck Drivers Stage Protests Across China

This week, truck drivers and logistics agents throughout China began staging protests in cities throughout Hong Kong and mainland China. Some of the reasons behind the protests include increased road tolls, increasing fuel prices and lower margins on cargo. See more here.

Port Of Philadelphia Becomes Part Of Top-20 Ports List

The Port of Philadelphia saw a 21.9 percent increase in import volumes year-over-year in 2017. These increases were helped in part by a $300 million expansion project along the Delaware River due to increases in global freight demand. See more here.

Wendy's Freshens Its Tomato Supply Chain
