Used Truck Sales Increase 9 Percent In April 2018

According to ACT Research Company's estimate, used truck sales in April 2018 increased 9 percent year-over-year to 22,900 sales. The year-over-year increase can be attributed to increases in demand for new class 8 truck sales, which has lead to a supply shortage in new truck inventory. See more here.

ATA Truck Tonnage Increased 2.2 Percent In April 2018

According to the American Trucking Association (ATA), the For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index increased 2.2 percent in April 2018. Compared to April 2017, ATA Truck Tonnage increased 9.5 percent year-over-year. See more here.

The Administration Calls For An Investigation Of Auto Imports

On May 23, 2018, The Administration announced that it has instructed the Department of Commerce to begin investigation into automobile imports to determine the effects on the national security of America. The investigation will determine whether imports of automobiles, including SUVs, vans and light trucks and automotive parts into the United States threaten to impair the national security as defined in Section 232. PierPass Changing To Terminal Appointment System

New Common Business Rules have resulted in terminal operators at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach agreeing on a new “PierPass 2.0” which will begin in August of 2018. The new rules include an appointment time frame of two hours, with last appointments set for 3:30 pm on the first shift and 1:30 a.m. on the second shift. See more here.

China Advanced Manifest Regulations Updates Set To Take Place June 1, 2018

Updated advanced manifest rules are scheduled to take effect June 1, 2018. These updates will apply to ocean imports and exports to and from Chinese ports, shipments that transship through China and air freight shipments to and from Chinese airports.

Walmart Beats Initial Predictions For Q1 2018 Revenue

Walmart increased revenue for Q1 2018 at a greater rate than initially expected. Growth was propelled by a 33 percent increase in online sales, which can be attributed to factors such as the website redesign and improvements to Walmart's online supply chain program. See more here.
